Project Description
In a multi-year, staged building project, Compassion Corps has helped to create a "Children's Village" for Martha Kpawolokpala, a widow, and her 69 orphan children. In the spring of 2014, work began on Phase 1, which involved the building of 2 dormitories, complete with piped water to the site for plumbing. In late fall, 2014, the children began to move into their new home, but two more small buildings are needed. Phase II, for which additional funds must be raised, will involve the construction of a small cottage for Martha and a large dining hall pavilion in which the family can gather for meals and meetings. This covered, common space will be very helpful during the rainy season.
